Charles Hoskinson is CEO of IOHK and founder of Cardano. He has a background in math, finishing analytic number theory at the Metropolitan State University of Denver and the University of Colorado Boulder.
Hoskinson’s crypto journey starts with the company Invictus Innovations which he founded with developer Dan Larimer to launch BitShares, a decentralized platform designed to provide a more efficient global payment network.
He was also involved in the creation of Ethereum as one of the eight original co-founders together with Vitalik Buterin. Hoskinson left the Ethereum project in 2014 due to disagreement with Vitalik over whether they should take venture capital or stay a non-profit organization.
Later Charles Hoskinson founded the company Input Output Hong Kong with Jeremy Wood, whose main project today is related to the development of Cardano (ADA). Charles is highly determined in making Cardano the best proof-of-stake (PoS) blockchain platform.
His estimated net worth in 2020 was 500-600 million dollars which makes him a billionaire in 2021.
